Q: Can I transfer an existing domain name to Hostwire.com?
A: Yes. Hostwire welcomes virtual domain clients whether they are registering a new domain or transferring an existing domain from elsewhere. There is never a reason why you could not move your domain to obtain Hostwire's services, unless you do not own the domain. As long as you own your domain, you can transfer it to Hostwire.
Q: How do I transfer my existing domain to Hostwire.com?
A: Simply complete the order process, during which time you will be prompted to select whether you want to transfer your domain or simply update your nameservers only.
Q: Does Hostwire automatically request my domain name to be transfered?
A: If you requested Hostwire to do so on the order form, we will automatically send the notification application to your existing domain name registrar.
Q: Who must approve the transfer of my domain name in order to move my domain to Hostwire?
A: On your domain name record, there is listed an Administrative and Technical Contact. Both of these contacts may be the same person, but one of them should be yourself if you own the domain name. It is the Administrative and Technical Contacts who will be notified via e-mail.
Q: How long does it take to transfer my existing domain name to Hostwire?
A: This pretty much depends entirely on the Administrative and Technical Contacts, and specifically, how fast they reply to the e-mail sent from Hostwire, approving the transfer of the domain name in question. This is the only step in transferring a domain name that can cause a hold up. If the Administrative or Technical Contact sends the authorization back immediately, your domain name could be transferred within 2 to 4 days.
